Meet the Lawyer

Who is Matt Early?

Matt considers himself to be a local. Born the fourth of five children, he grew up in a modest household in Spirit Lake and graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1984. He gained real world experience through employment at a local furniture factory in order to fund his education at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa College of Law. After graduating law school with distinction, Matt joined a well-respected law firm in Sioux City, Iowa, where he received excellent mentorship and a wealth of experience in diverse areas of the law.

But home was calling. Matt and his wife Stephanie chose to move their family back to Spirit Lake in 2009 to provide their children with the upbringing and values they knew could be found in this great Iowa community. Upon their return, Matt was fortunate enough to join a local distinguished firm where he was able to expand his areas of practice and gain further valuable experience.

Matt has always valued community. He has been a member of and led numerous service organization boards such as the American Cancer Society, Siouxland Humane Society, Spirit Lake Youth Athletic Association, Indian Athletic Booster Club, and the Spirit Lake Public Library, as well as volunteering as a youth athletic coach for over 20 years.

Matt believes his commitment to family, community and service to others is vital to the representation of his clients. His years of experience have taught him that compassion, patience and listening are essential aspects of effectively advocating for his clients.
